She was born in Ankara. She started her music career by receiving the Western Music education in TRT Istanbul Radio Children’s Choir which she was entitled to attend as a result of an examination. Afterwards, she was selected as a treble voice for TRT Istanbul Radio Youth Choir. Between 1982-1987, she received education at Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Public Administration. During the same period, she received six-year education by passing the exams of Istanbul Municipality Conservatory, Department of Turkish Music. Following her university graduation, she gained admission to the newspaper Tercüman and she wrote on culture and art, particularly music.
In 1990, she participated in the staff of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Istanbul Turkish State Music Community as an educated artist on the demand of classical lute player Necdet Yaşar. There, she benefited from the lessons of Prof. Alaeddin Yavaşça as well as Necdet Yaşar. Following her professional interest in music, her relation with the press continued. Having written columns on music and Istanbul in the newspaper Günaydın for 2 years, she prepared and presented programs in music and various fields on BRT, TRT, and TGRT, afterwards, on various private radios. Between 2002-2004, she received master’s degree education in Business Administration in English at Yeditepe University, Institute of Social Sciences. In 2004, she became the art director of Istanbul State Turkish Music Community. Three solo albums of hers called “Aşktan Yana”, “Huzur”, and “Hatırla” were published by Akustik Müzik in 2005, in March 2012 and in 2013, respectively.
She carried out various project concerts in addition to her periodic concerts with the community with which she worked. She prepared three albums of Istanbul Turkish State Music Community called “Bir Modern Zaman Mehtabiyesi”, “Ustadan Çırağa” and “Baba-Oğul Bestekarlar”. In 2010, she conducted a seminar on the famous female composer Leyla Saz and gave a concert regarding her at the international meeting of “Women’s History Network” organized by Warwick University in England. In 2011, she prepared and presented the music program called “Bir Fincan Kahve” broadcasted live on TRT Istanbul Radio for a year. She gave concerts as the soloist of the music groups called Türk Kahvesi and Çaresaz in various places in Istanbul. She completed her doctorate at Yeditepe University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Political Sciences and International Relations in 2011.
In 2012, she prepared and presented the Turkish Music programs called “Bir Tatlı Huzur” broadcasted weekly on TV Net and “Alaturka Sevdalar” also broadcasted weekly on TRT Müzik. She gave solo concerts in Turkey and in the USA, France, England, Uganda, Egypt, Kosovo, Germany, Algeria, Belgium, Italy, Moldova, Nepal, Lebanon, and Azerbaijan in addition to her duty in the community. In 2013, she made a presentation on Turkish Music in Sao Paolo Embassy in Brazil. In 2014, her fourth album called “Aşina” was published by Yavuz Burç Recordings. Between 2009-2015, she gave lectures as a teaching assistant on Turkish Music Solfege and Political Science at Medipol University, at two different institutes.
She founded and directed the amateur choirs called Mısra Turkish Music Community, Neveser Konakları Turkish Music Choir, Nevasel Turkish Music Community, Medipol University Turkish Music Choir and Aşina Kadınlar Turkish Music Community.
She still continues to direct the choirs of Mısra, Nevasel and Aşina which consist of amateurs. She maintains her works as a community manager in addition to being a vocal artist following a change in her duty in Istanbul State Turkish Music Ensemble. Her 5th album on “Musical Works from the Poems of Yahya Kemal Beyatlı and Nazım Hikmet” was published by Kalan Music in January 2016. Her sixth album called “Andıkça – Lem’i Atlı Şarkıları” was produced in December 2016.
